How To Arrange Media Files -------------------------- Last Updated: 9/26/09 DO NOT PLACE ANY FILE IN THE ROOT DIRECTORY OTHER THAN READMES AND SYSTEM FILES!!! --- Of the main Star Fox games, 6 are considered main series games. Files relating to them, with exceptions mentioned later, should be placed in the listed corresponding folders: * sf - Star Fox * sf2 - Star Fox 2 * sf64 - Star Fox 64 * sfad - Star Fox Adventures * sfas - Star Fox Assault * sfc - Star Fox Command Future Star Fox games will receive their own designation at the time of announcement. Within each of these folders are some standard folders: * cutscenes - Video cutscenes * demos - Video demos, movies, displays, and announcements * images - Images for use with this listing like title images (NOT SCREENS OR RENDERS, they have a separate storage location, aka, the gallery) * music - Soundtrack for the game * other - A catchall category; typically it will contain documents, such as: the manual, the players' guides, scripts, and credits * sfx - Sound effects go here; currently, we do not host these * voiceclips - Voice acting clips go here If, at any time, a thumbnail needs to be generated (say for a cutscene thumbnail), the containing folder should designate the difference between the thumbnails and the full-resolution content by separating them into folders that should be named "thumbs" and "content" accordingly. If, at any time, a ZIP archive of the entirety of the content needs to be generated (say for a one-click full soundtrack download), store that archive in the main related directory, while placing actual content in a separate "content" folder. This is so that the actual content will be clear of extraneous files, which will allow a music playing system (or other content player) to cleanly play a directory. --- The "other" folder is for storing data for games not considered main Star Fox series games, which includes: * animalcrossingseries - All Animal Crossing Games * donkeykonga3 - Donkey Konga 3 * fzeroseries - All F-Zero games * greatconcertbandbrothers - Great Concert! Band Brothers * mariogolf - Mario Golf (N64) * picross4 - Picross NP Vol. 4 * picross6 - Picross NP Vol. 6 * pokemonstadium2 - Pokemon Stadium 2 * sf64ique - Star Fox 64 (iQue) * sf64vc - Star Fox 64 (Virtual Console) * sfsw - Star Fox Super Weekend * sfvb - Star Fox (Virtual Boy) * sfww - Star Fox (Wrist Watch) * ssb - Super Smash Bros. * ssbb - Super Smash Bros. Brawl * ssbm - Super Smash Bros. Melee * stuntracefx - Stunt Race FX * supermariorpg - Super Mario RPG * wariowareseries - All WarioWare games * zeldaocarinaoftime - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Add additional folders for other games as necessary Within each of these folders, standards are less consistent. Usually, there will be at least one image, but there might also be video. Since everything is a special case, don't worry too much about consistency, but please follow the seperating content and thumbnails rule from above. --- The "fangames" directory is for media associated with fangames. At this time, there is no media for this folder. Update this readme when adding fangame pages. --- Other folders * archives - The official Star Fox site backups * articles - Stores content for articles, one folder per article * podcasts - Stores podcast materials * posts - Stores images and other media used in Wordpress posts; store flat unless there is a specific reason for separation into subfolders * site - Stores files useful to the site itself, but are not directly part of the theme, such as 404, hotlink, and icon images * temp - TEMPORARY storage of data, such as limited availability songs, or a site redesign Try to refrain from using any other folders in this media directory (f.starfox.net).
